a simple gesture

Living with my Dad on a daily basis was like two ships passing in the overcast foggy atmosphere of little sun, here in ‘Up North’ Michigan.
I saw a video with a child assigned each week to greet his/her classmates each day with a greeting of choice for the recipient – a high five, hug, or something else.
My mother when we were little called us to the day with ‘Rise and Shine’.
So I asked my Dad if he was game for this.
High five, we have to look in each others eyes to land the hands, that is good hand eye coordination, and a hug? Which side? Both!
It is now a regular part of the day, and we are getting more playful - a hello that sets the day anew. To have that success so early in the day sprinkles confidence for the challenges yet to come, which is nurturing.
